Elect someone "new' and untouchable
In the papers on Saturday, it was reported that Olga has raised over twice as much money as Jim Snyder but yet the race is neck and neck? Hmmm? Snyder only announced on June 30th. With this in mind, the "d's" will no doubt be pulling out the cheap shot playbook they are so good at running and start the lies.
What I find interesting is that through this entire campaign, we have had "two" hospitals both be lured to PC or Chesterton and Valpo and now it appears District 10 will have a person from Chesterton representing the dems downstate. I would also add that the person representing them is not any better than Clem or Cheney. All this happening and the largest city in Porter County has nothing to say about it?
The citizens of District 10 have been mislead by the Democratic Party. You had the opportunity to put someone new and intelligent into this seat and Bob Harper jumped in last minute and made sure that someone would be put in who is as crazy and unreasonable as he is. The prophecy coninues. All the while the City of Portage is being neglected. Where is the leadership?
When Nov. 6th rolls around, maybe the citizens of Portage can speak for themselves and elect someone "new' and untouchable by old politic ways. Then and only then, will this city come together and move forward.

Olson backer throws support to Snyder
I am an independent, and I am voting for Jim Snyder for Portage mayor.
In the past, I have proudly voted for Mayor Doug Olson.
This year, I was looking forward to working for the late David Highlands. I miss David Highlands, but Jim Snyder has really developed a vision much like his. He believes we need to clean up U.S. 20.
As for the hospital, Snyder is right. There is no good reason why Portage does not have a full-service hospital.
Snyder is a leader and will move Portage in the right direction.

I typically vote Democrat but...
I am typically not super involved in politics in Portage, but the mayor's race has intrigued me. As a union member, I typically vote Democrat but have gained a keen interest in Jim Snyder.
He has spoken to me about lowering property taxes through efficient government. Keeping garbage fees low through modern recycling is another area Jim seems to know what he is talking about. Most importantly, Jim feels we need to curb the city growth and concentrate on downtown Portage and Route 20. This all sounds good to me, and I feel it would be better for Portage to have a Portage business owner as the mayor.
Jim seems to be the logical choice for mayor of Portage, and that is why I am going to vote for the person this election, not the party.

Snyder is man of honesty, integrity
My wife and I are supporting Jim Snyder this year in the Portage mayoral election. We have known him some time and are pleased he is running. We know he will make a fine mayor.
Jim is a man of honesty and integrity. When you meet him, he is sincere and kind. He has always been a leader in whatever walk of life he has taken.
Portage will be well served with Jim at the helm. He has great business experience as a business owner along with sound judgment on the Plan Commission.
We have a chance to make our city better this year by electing Snyder as mayor.

Snyder is candidate more like Mayor Olson
I am writing as someone who is going to miss Mayor Doug Olson. He was a friend to Portage and a great leader. We all wish he was running again.
I am a Republican, and the quality Olson has that I respect was that he represents Portage, not his party. He is able to work with both sides and is respected by both sides.
Jim Snyder is the same type of person and has the same quality. Jim worked hard in years past for Esther Wilson and other Democrats. Keep in mind Jim did this because he cared about the community, not about business contracts.
I am voting for Jim because he is the candidate more like Olson.

It is time the citizens of Portage choose their mayor
"I met Jim Snyder recently, and it was exciting to see a young fresh face in politics. One of the things that impressed me the most about him is he has no strings attached to his mayoral candidacy.
Portage needs someone who can make the tough decisions to move us forward without worrying about political ramifications.
I am a lifelong Democrat and have been very involved in Portage politics in the past. This election I plan to be very involved in Snyder's campaign. In a very short time, he has convinced me he has our interests on his mind.
It is time the citizens of Portage choose their mayor, not what the Democrat Party feeds us each election."-July 22nd

I'm an Olson fan, but I'll vote for Snyder
I am a friend of Portage Mayor Doug Olson and understand his endorsement of Olga. He has been a wonderful mayor, and we are all going to miss him.
We also understand he has to stand behind his candidate because of his party and early endorsement. Olson is the reason I became a Democrat.
Meeting and talking with Jim Snyder has been a breath of fresh air. His experience as a business owner in the mortgage field makes him better experienced to confront the issues we as Portage residents are facing. He deals with property taxes on a daily basis and better understands the effects they have on Portage residents.
Olson was a business owner before he became mayor, and Snyder is the same. Snyder has the same people skills as Olson and is friendly and will help make city hall more citizen friendly.
I like Snyder's slogan and believe he is better qualified to continue the legacy of my good friend Mayor Olson. Join me in voting for Snyder as the new mayor of Portage.

Please join me in voting for Jim Snyder
"I am a secretary at First Federal Trust Mortgage and I work for mayoral candidate, Jim Snyder. One thing that you can never question about Jim is his dedication to Portage. He always talks about the city and he has great ideas about seeing it do better. As an employee, Jim lets me do my job. He is not a micro-manager. He treats me and the entire staff with respect. There is not another person I would rather work for and he will be a great mayor. Please join me in voting for Jim Snyder, candidate for Mayor of Portage."

Please join me in voting for Jim Snyder
I am writing to ask you to support my good friend Jim Snyder for the Mayor of Portage. A little over a year ago he asked me to run for the Portage Township Trustee and he helped me immensely as he campaigned and advised me regarding the issues of Portage Township.
When I assumed office he did not stop with his dedication to the people of Portage. As many of you know there were many things that needed to be done at the trustees’ office in January. I asked Jim to look into employee insurance and the township’s parks.
With Jim’s help we were able to save the township nearly $100,000 in health insurance costs alone. Growing up in South Haven he had a desire to see the South Haven parks improved and he is currently helping with it now. Keep in mind Jim is doing this work volunteer out of dedication to the people of Portage Township. He also had no intention of running for mayor when he started helping.
Please join me in voting for Jim Snyder as the mayor of Portage.

Snyder is right choice at Portage's crossroads
This is going to be an important year for Portage. The City Council is going to change drastically.
I am greatly concerned about the quality of life in Portage. It is already in trouble and would be in even greater danger if the other candidate were to win. The most important decision Portage residents will make this year will be who they want to lead their city. I am supporting Jim Snyder.
I am 77, and for years Portage citizens have given me the opportunity to represent them in many different ways. Snyder is young, and his vision and energy will allow our city to unleash its potential.
No election in my 29 years here has been so critical to the city I love. We are definitely at a crossroads. We can continue to have progress in Portage with Snyder. That is why I am proud to support him this election.
